FREE STANDING TABLES
Appropriate table top sizes for deuces are 24" x 27" or 30"; for "4" seating, 33" x 33" and 27" x 45"
or 48"; for 5 - 6 seats, 27" x 60" or 63" and 48" Round; for 7 - 8 places, 60" Round. The above
can be easily modified to provide any desired size, such as 34" x 34", 30" x 63", 45" Round and 30" x 30"
(large deuce or small "4"). Similar widths are needed for joining tables (often a deuce and rectangular
"4" top)
Standard metal bases are
commonly used with varying cross-foot dimensions for single pedestals and sets of T-shaped end bases for
rectangular lengths. More elaborate bases, including wood, can double or triple the cost.
The arrangement of tables
should provide sufficient comfort zones (minimum, 6' - 7' spacing in rows for 2's and 4's, 9' - 10' for 48"
Rounds). Allow close to 3' for major aisles. Avoid over-crowding. You want to get repeat
business. Plan for average nights and re-align where possible on very busy occasions. Providing
sufficient bar/lounge high and low table space along with a highly pleasurable ambience is the best way of
accommodating overflow waiting customers while greatly improving profitability at the same time. Crowds
are expected and valued at popular places. It is how they are handled that counts. And don't
overlook the importance of nice clean restrooms.
Elegantly crafted solid wood tops are becoming increasingly more suitable for dining rooms, while customary in bar areas.
That is because of appearance, feel, a high quality match with other furniture and, perhaps most significantly, the considerable savings
on linen costs.
